Echinacea, our ally is a powerful flower.

As the consumption of herbal supplements is growing rapidly, the greater awareness has been taken from echinacea. This plant is found in nature in nine different species, of which only three can be used in medicine. In the market is existed in different forms (tincture, ointment, tablets), on each on used the most appropriate part of the plant such as leaf, stem or root. It is a natural antibiotic that stimulates the body's defenses, helping to fight infections. Because of interferon production, a protein produced by the cells themselves, it  protects the cells themselves from microbial attack. More specifically Echinacea fights or prevents:

  • cold and symptoms
  • urinary tract infections,
  • respiratory infections
  • tonsillitis
  • infections caused by Streptococcus and Staphylococcus
  • autoimmune diseases (eg eczema) because it improves mental health and works as issoropistikos immune mechanism
  • ear infections
  • wounds, burns, facilitate healing of the skin (cream)
  • herpes

The recommended dose is up to 200mg per day four to five times a day. It's more effective in more doses than in less doses with more mg. Moreover, it is not recommended to be used continuously for a long time (over three weeks) because immunostimulatory action is restricted. Surveys have positive indications for use Echinacea in patients with various forms of carcer or AIDS, but this has not been proved yet, so is recommended the echinacea consumption while conventional treatment. In general there are no side effects, although you should avoid echinacea if you allergic to daisy plants.
