GlucoFit is a nutritional ingredient extracted from the Lagerstroemia speciosa herb. The NOW Foods formula is formulated in 18% of corrolic acid.
Corozole acid is a natural triterpenoid chemically known as 2 alpha-hydroxy uricolic acid. Triterpenoid glycosides appear to be suitable to assist in a wide range of health problems with their anti-cancer, antihypertensive, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and anti-cholesterol properties. Corozole acid has been shown in scientific studies to support healthy glucose metabolism. In studies performed, it appeared to exhibit insulin-like glucose-inducing activity.
Corozolic acid is found in other plants that grow from Asia to South America, and many of these are traditionally used to treat cancer, high cholesterol and diabetes. Lagerstroemia speciosa may have the highest concentration. Lagerstroemia speciosa of NOW Foods with the certified 18% concentration guarantees all the effects of corozolic acid.
Corozole acid is especially important because it means that a diabetic may stop taking GlucoFit for several days without the fear of an acute hypoglycaemic episode.
