One of the fatty acids encountered in the seeds of evening primrose and Starflower (borage) is gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). The GLA is a fatty acid necessary for the body because it participates in the production of certain hormones, including prostaglandin PGE1 (behave like hormones). The PGE1 participates in the regulation of the nervous, cardiovascular and reproductive system, the proper function of the skin and other biological functions. Therefore, doctors usually recommend the GLA in:
- Women during menstruation.
- Women undergoing menopause.
- People who are interested in the condition of their skin.
The body can produce GLA by converting a similar fatty acid family of omega-6, called linoleic acid. Still, however, the conversion is not always sufficient, so it is recommended supplementation of GLA.
This new product of Lamberts (Evening Primrose oil with Starflower Oil 1000mg) are of high quality and specially selected for its high content in GLA (120mg per capsule). Also, the capsules do not contain gelatin.
