Silymarin is the active ingredient of the fruit of the plant Silybum marianum (popularly known as thistle - milk thistle). This plant is found mainly in the Mediterranean and widely used by herbalists in the UK in the 16th century. The active substances of the herb include 3 isomers called Silybin, Silidanin and Silicristin. Substances are classified in flavonoligrans, a strong group of plant active ingredients. From these 3 substances, is considered the most powerful Silybin.
